Prior to my career in photography, I worked variously as a landscaper, auto mechanic, baker, housepainter, and carpenter. I have also worked in the manufacturing of circuit boards and helicopters (Hughes Aircraft), metal plating technology (Honeywell, Coors Porcelain) and as a librarian (M.A. in Librarianship, University of Denver) for the Denver Public Library, specializing in young adult and alternative energy programs. | |
To the field of photography, I bring six
years of fine art experience and training in painting and drawing, as
well as several years in printing Black and White photographs as a
volunteer for the Denver Art Museum. I also worked as a custom color
printer at the Prolab, Inc., for a number or years. Since 1978, I have
been producing and marketing my photography full-time at juried fine
arts festivals and galleries throughout the United States. |

The combination of fine art training and the ability to print my own color photography has enabled me to pursue and secure on film the essence of an image. My work captures a sense of warmth, beauty and composition that few have achieved. In my creative process, I strive for a balance between simplicity of composition, strength of color and natural lighting techniques that leads observers to believe they are viewing paintings rather than photographs. My subject matter is varied, from still lifes designed and constructed in my studio to intimate scenes in countries such as Italy, Mexico, France, Cuba, and all over the United States. |
